Altitude Sports Grill Taphouse

Altitude Sports Grill TaphouseThe Altitude Sports Grill Taphouse is located at 15755 E. Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial.  It is attached to the Celebrity Lanes.  We went to eat at the Taphouse and had a pretty good experience.  Our server was very attentive and we received our food in orderly fashion.  I had the Roast Beef Sandwich, which for eight bucks offered a good value!  Sorry for the lack of pics of the food, I was so hungry that by the time I remembered to snap a photo of my dish it was half gone.  The roast beef was very flavorful and tender.  I added a salad to my meal which only cost an extra dollar, another good value.. the only other place I know to get a salad for a dollar is at Wendy’s.

The ambience in the Taphouse is ok.  There are several big screen TV’s playing sports, it’s a comfortable atmosphere.  The beer selection could be better but at least they have some good local brews as well as Guinness.  The patio is very modern looking, we didn’t eat outside but checking out the patio I must say it’s quite appealing.  Pretty cool, they have several vertical heaters as well as a nice ‘fire pit’.

Overall, I think the Altitude Taphouse is a good addition to Celebrity Lanes in Centennial.  Looking forward to my next visit.  Like Altitude Sports Grill Taphouse on Facebook.

Tebowing.com Website

Tebowing.  During the final play of the Denver Broncos game vs the Miami Dolphins a month ago, quarterback Tim Tebow, instead of watching the winning field goal go through the uprights was on one knee praying.  Somehow, the act of getting down on one knee and praying when nobody else around is doing it was dubbed “Tebowing” after that moment.  Media, fans and followers have taken the ‘Tebowing’ craze to a new level.

Tebowing.com was registered on Tuesday, October 25th and a blog site was immediately put up where visitors can upload pics of themselves or friends ‘Tebowing’.  The site now, just a couple weeks old has received hundreds of thousands visitors each week and is already ranked in the top 35,000 sites globally and top 2,300 in the U.S. according to Alexa.com.

The registrant of tebowing.com, Jared Kleinstein did an entertaining interview with the Wall Street Journal the other day talking a bit about the ‘Tebowing’ craze.  This site currently monetized by selling Tebowing t-shirts, hoodies, knit caps, baseball caps and even baby bibs.

Voters in Denver decided against Proposition 103, which would have raised taxes to help fund education.

The following Denver Post article shows people celebrating the defeat of this bill.  Are they that happy for education to continue to be pushed to the back burner or just happy their agenda to stop tax increases was halted.

“Freedom Does Not Have a Curfew” Or Does It? Occupy Denver Protest Removed From Capitol Hill

Tebow, Tebow, Tebow! YES

Tim TebowOk, I’ve done a complete 360 since the last post I made about the QB situation in Denver.  I had faith in Orton, but last two weeks (especially the first half against the Chargers) you could just tell he was done, had thrown in the towel mentally.  This had to be a really tough situation for him with a phenom like Tim Tebow who has all of the fan support in Denver behind The pressures that come from being the QB of a NFL team that is used to winning are hard enough and to top it off every mistake Orton made gots magnified and prompted boos and Tebow chants from Bronco fans.

Welcome to the Tim Tebow era, will he come salvage the season?  I doubt it, but with the second half performance and near comeback last week he already has captured the faith of the Broncos fans, including Orton supporters.  How can you not appreciate the effort and sheer will to win?  I honestly can’t remember Orton engineering a fourth quarter comeback win.  Not saying it didn’t happen while he was a starter for the Broncos, but for the last couple of years when we got behind in the second half I was almost tempted to change the channel to golf or bowling – just had that feeling it was over.. and Broncos fans are tired of that!  Granted, Tim Tebow did not complete the comeback last week but guess what, it was damn close.

Well, here’s to an interesting end of the season.  Tebow and company have a bye week this week to get the offense figured out.  I truly hope Tebow steps into this role, I think he is probably as ready as he will ever be.. I don’t expect to see him turn the season around for the Broncos, but hey you NEVER know. :)

** Update – Just saw now the Broncos are shopping around Brandon Lloyd.. NO!  Don’t do it.  A mid round draft pic?  Come on, somebody stop the madness.

Live Music at the Summit Steakhouse and Piano Bar

The Summit Steakhouse in Aurora at 2700 S. Havana St is a great American food restaurant as well as a place to let loose and enjoy live music on the weekends. Local Piano man Kevin McHugh operates the piano bar during the weekends, and attracts many locals with his piano talent.

Every weekend, the Summit tries to book a live musician. The other night we went to see Pete Martinez perform. Martinez old style country was a real treat. He played everything from George Strait to Merle Haggard. As soon as the live music started before the dance floor was even clear of dining room tables folks were dancing and enjoying the music. A true locals spot, we even saw Jake Jabbs get on stage for a few minutes to play some country music.

Table service at the Summit was a little slow but out waitress was very friendly. It was the first time I had been to Summit in years and not much had changed. The ambiance was cozy and warm, I saw many folks enjoying their dinners (see the menu) and lots of people who love live music.
