Denver’s newest King Soopers location is the 63,000 square foot Glendale store which opened last week. The building was the site of the old Cub Foods which closed down leaving this property abandoned since 2004. The building and store has been totally renovated and transformed into a grocery shoppers paradise. I would guess there are twice as many aisles and products available at this new location.
The King Soopers in Glendale has a massive bakery and produce department. There is also a beautiful 10,000 square foot full service liquor store located inside this King Soopers. I don’t usually say beautiful to describe liquor stores but I am not exaggerating. There is a fireplace, beer tasting and lounge area inside this liquor store! You may be wondering about the Colorado state law that only allows grocery stores to sell 3.2 alcohol products? I was too. The law allows each business entity one liquor license and grocers may choose a single location to use their license and sell booze. Kroger’s has chosen the new Glendale store.
When I was at this store the other day, it took me a little longer to find the things I was looking for. The store was very busy and I was lucky enough to find a spot in the dedicated parking lot in front of the store (which is already too small). I was impressed with the decor, selection and size of this King Soopers, I am sure I will be stopping there frequently – it’s a convenient location.
